Police arrested an Indiana man this week after a traffic stop turned up drugs and guns, authorities said.

Sahid Nasir-Evans, 27, faces charges related to firearms violations and possession of marijuana, said Kiski Township Police Sgt. Thomas Dessell.

Officers stopped Nasir-Evans just after 1 a.m. Monday on Route 56 near the intersection of McKinstry Hill Road, Dessell said.

The traffic stop turned up marijuana and two concealed guns inside the car, authorities said. Dessell said Nasir-Evans is prohibited from owning firearms because of a previous weapons charge in Maryland. Maryland court records show Nasir-Evans pleaded guilty in 2012 to have a dangerous weapon on school property.

Police took Nasir-Evans into custody, and he was taken to the Armstrong County Jail to await arraignment. Dessell said he is charged with firearm-related offenses and possession of marijuana.
