The Burrell-New Kensington Rotary Club will accept emergency grant applications online until 5 p.m. Tuesday from local nonprofits impacted by covid-19.
The business organization established the Emergency Community Grant Program to help nonprofits dealing with the pandemic.
“Our Rotary Club would like to express our sincere appreciation for the selflessness of the individuals in these local organizations who continue to serve our communities and provide much needed services,” the organization posted on its Facebook page.
Recipients can receive up to $1,000, according to Michael Girardi, president of the rotary and an attorney practicing in New Kensington.
Nonprofits in Arnold, New Kensington, Lower Burrell and Upper Burrell are eligible for the grants.
Applicants must either work directly to mitigate the impact by covid-19 such as through health care, emergency management and assisting vulnerable populations or have been significantly impacted financially by the pandemic.
The Rotary has about $8,000 to give in grants, Girardi said.
Grant recipients will be notified by April 30.
An online application for the emergency grant is available on the Burrell-New Kensington Rotary Club Facebook page.
