Real ID issued by PennDOT

State Rep. Frank Dermody, D-Oakmont, and PennDOT are offering free public information sessions locally on the new requirements for residents to obtain Real ID.

Although not mandatory, Pennsylvania residents trying to board domestic flights after Oct. 1, 2020, will need to present a Real ID driver’s license or identification card or a permitted alternative such as a passport. Real ID licenses also will be needed to enter secure federal sites after that.

To learn more, Dermody and PennDOT are offering public presentations on what residents need to do to secure their Real ID in the following communities:

Harrison: 2 p.m. May 9, township building, 1 Municipal Drive

New Kensington: 2 p.m. May 16, city hall, 301 11th St.

Oakmont: 10:30 a.m. May 9, Riverview Community Action Corp., 501 Second St.

PennDOT began issuing the licenses and identification cards March 1.
