Leechburg Area School Board is looking to fill a vacancy after a board member resigned last month.

President Anthony Shea confirmed the board received Matthew Jagodrinski’s letter of resignation in July.

Jagodrinski was elected to a two-year term in 2021.

In his resignation letter, Jagodrinski said professional and personal commitments require more of his time.

“I’d like to thank Mr. Jagodrinski for the time he served on the board. He was a great contributor of ideas,” Shea said.

The board will officially accept Jagodrinski’s letter of resignation and plans to appoint someone as his replacement at the Aug. 23 meeting.

The deadline to submit a letter of interest is noon Aug. 22. Jagodrinski’s term expires Dec. 4.

School directors are not compensated, and nine members serve on the board.

Shea noted volunteer school board positions are open to district residents 18 and older with a clean criminal record.

“The ideal school board member is one who can listen to all sides objectively and draw upon their life experiences to make decisions that are good for both students and taxpayers,” Shea said.

Interested candidates are asked to submit a letter of interest and resume to Teresa Edinger, board secretary, at tedinger@leechburg.k12.pa.us or via mail at 210 Penn Ave., Leechburg, PA 15656.
