Pam Key, co-organizer of the Lower Burrell Farmers Market, hands out free hot dogs for a visitor to the market, held outside Lower Burrell City Hall earlier this month.

Lower Burrell’s Farmers Market will go out with a bang for its final market of the season with its Harvest Festival Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The special themed market will feature about 30 vendors including guest vendors providing more products and more choices, including craft beer from Allusion Brewery and the Main Squeeze food truck. A free children’s booth will offer crafts to create fabric pumpkins and other seasonal art.

Guest vendors include area crafters with fall creations including wands and headpieces from Convergence Studios in Vandergrift.

“We are again bringing in some craft vendors to celebrate the end of our market – it’s been a very successful season,” said Carley Logan who organizes the market with Burrell School Board President Pam Key.

“We want to make sure as many people come in support of our vendors who worked tirelessly for the entire season,” Logan said.

Free samples of homemade fall soups, along with free copies of the recipes, will be available.

The market will hold its final raffle for the season with the price of gift cards from local businesses with an estimated value of about $350.

Logan and Key are planning more themed markets next year as they continue to draw crowds.

“Having both the Christmas in July and Harvest Festival markets have increased awareness in the community of the Lower Burrell Farmers market and have seen significantly increased attendance that what we had in previous years,” Logan said.

City Council Chris Fabry said that the themed markets really “freshened up” the usual weekly markets.

“It’s great to watch the market grow and evolve into something new,” Fabry said. “Pam and Carley did a wonderful job this year and I look forward to watching them build upon their momentum in 2023.”

The Farmers Market is held in the Lower Burrell City Hall parking lot, 115 Schreiber St. For details about the market, visit the Joseph “Bud” Myers Lower Burrell Farmers Market Facebook page.
