A Lower Burrell man is accused of using his father’s identity to sell cars as a licensed dealer on Facebook and other social media sites.

Christopher Post, 38, on Tuesday waived a preliminary hearing on 67 charges including felony charges for dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, forgery and identity theft.

Post’s attorney Patrick J. Thomassey declined to comment on the case.

Lower Burrell police accuse Post of pretending to hold licenses as a car dealer. Post advertised the cars, including used Nissan Maximas, Cadillacs and Land Rovers, in Facebook videos, police said in a criminal complaint filed in January.

Police also accused Post of misleading advertising and that one of the cars he sold, a Nissan Maxima, had an inspection sticker date altered from 4-19 to 12-19, giving the false impression that the vehicle was inspected.

After Lower Burrell opened an investigation in October 2019, they found that Post signed titles listing the seller as Anthony Charles Post, his father, in a number of transactions.

When police visited Anthony Charles Post at his Lower Burrell home, the senior Post told police that he didn’t know anything about owning the cars his son was selling.

Police said the senior Post called his son Christopher who, when he spoke to police, asked them, “Well, what kind of deal can you give me?”

Christopher Post admitted to selling the vehicles and signing the titles, police said. Police reported that when they said they were looking at sales of 40 to 50 cars, Post snickered and said there were more than that.

He posted bond of $25,000 on Feb. 3.
