On hand at the dedication of the Mable V. Mazza community meeting hall was (from left) granddaughter Linzy Hayes, Allegheny Township supervisors Chairman Michael Korns, Mazza’s son Mark Mazza and daughter-in-law Kristy Mazza.

Allegheny Township supervisors this week renamed their meeting room the “Mable Mazza Meeting Room” in honor of the late community contributor and activist.

Mazza frequently attended meetings of township supervisors, the Kiski Area School Board and other regional and county organizations. She also worked the polls on Election Day.

The supervisors decided in February to rename the room for Mazza, who died in 2020 at the age of 88.

“Mable was a real institution in Allegheny Township,” said supervisors Chairman Michael Korns. “If there was a governmental meeting going on, Mable was there. She was always prepared and was always holding elected and appointed officials accountable.”

Former supervisors Chairwoman Kathryn Starr fondly remembered Mazza.

“Mable was here all 18 years I was a supervisor,” Starr said. “We sometimes relied on her to answer our questions on everything that happened in the township for decades. I love her and miss her.”
