Springdale police charged a man with six felony theft charges after a woman told them the man pushed her out of her car after beating her, stole the vehicle and then burglarized her home.

Vincent Edward Tabone, 29, of Sylvan Avenue, Collier Township, was charged with burglary, robbery of a motor vehicle and two counts each of criminal trespass and receiving stolen property. All are felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of simple assault and criminal mischief in connection with the Nov. 28 incident.

The woman told police that she and Tabone were in her car at the top of Rialto Street in Pittsburgh’s Troy Hill neighborhood shortly before 10 p.m. when he hit her in the face and grabbed her by the arm to force her out of the car, according to a criminal complaint.

She said Tabone took her cellphone before pushing her out. She said that her purse, which contained a $2,000 bank deposit from the business she manages, was in the vehicle, according to the complaint.

She told police she walked to a friend’s house in the North Side to borrow enough money for a cab ride home. The woman said she used her computer the next day to contact Tabone, who told her he left the car along Bellview Terrace in East Deer, the complaint said.

A friend took the woman to retrieve the car, but all of her belongings were missing and the gas tank was empty, according to the complaint.

When the woman returned home, she found her purse and cellphone inside the vestibule of her house, but the $2,000 and other money was gone. Also missing was a pair of Adidas Yeezy Glow shoes valued at $500, which were kept near where the purse was found, the complaint said.

The woman said her bedroom was ransacked and that Tabone broke a window and used a chair to get into the house, according to the complaint.

Investigators photographed the woman’s injuries as well as the chair and broken window at her house, the complaint said.

The case was reviewed by an Allegheny County assistant district attorney to determine the charges that would be filed against Tabone, according to the complaint.

Police said Tabone, who is on probation, did not respond to phone calls.

He was taken into custody Wednesday and is being detained in the Allegheny County Jail in Pittsburgh after bond was denied.

Tabone faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge David J. Sosovicka on Jan. 10.
