Firefighters investigate the scene of an early morning house fire on Plum Street in Plum on Friday.

Here are a few news items for Friday, Feb. 28:

No injuries reported in Plum fire

No injuries were reported in a fire early Friday morning in Plum’s Renton neighborhood.

Four fire companies responded to a home on the 200 block of Plum Street at 3:48 a.m., according to Renton Fire Chief Carey Cole.

Cole said two occupants in the house were able to get out safely, and it took fire crews about a half-hour to knock the fire down.

Cole said it was too early to determine a cause for the blaze.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

North Point Breeze shooting victim in critical condition

A man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the torso early Friday morning, Pittsburgh police said.

First responders were called to the 400 block of Jonathan Court in the city’s North Point Breeze neighborhood around 3:30 a.m. At the scene, they found a man inside a residence who had been shot several times.

He was transported in critical condition to an area hospital.

Police said another adult male was taken to police headquarters for questioning.
