No children were hurt when a Highlands School District bus was involved in a crash on Freeport Road Wednesday afternoon, according to the district and Harrison police.
The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. near Montana Avenue, police Chief Mike Klein said.
Montana Avenue goes back to the district’s high school.
Information on the type and size of bus involved, and how many students were on board, was not immediately available.
According to a school district notice, a school nurse examined all of the students on the bus as a precaution.
Parents were notified directly, the district said.
According to Klein, a driver in a car tried to pass the bus, which was in motion, on Montana Avenue and the car clipped the side of the bus.
A representative of ABC Transit, the district’s transportation contractor, could not be reached for comment.
There was minor damage to the bus, Klein said.
