Parks Township property housing Uncle Charley’s Sausage HQ on the market

The owner of a Parks Township building that serves as the headquarters for Uncle Charley’s Sausage has listed the property for sale, pricing it at nearly $1.8 million.
The 16,568-square-foot building is owned by Pittsburgh-based McKnight Acquisition Co.
The company said in a statement Uncle Charley’s has a long-term lease on the facility and “will be making its famous sausage there for many years to come.”
“Our decision to sell the real estate is strictly a financial opportunity in light of the robust demand by investors for high-quality industrial real estate with excellent long-term credit tenants,” McKnight Acquisition added in the statement.
When asked what the listing means for the future of the sausage maker at its current location, Uncle Charley’s Chief Financial Officer Charles Gabriel said, “It’s business as usual.”
Gabriel declined to say what the company pays to lease the facility but said it renewed a five-year lease last September.
The facility is in Parks Bend Industrial Park on Industrial Park Road. It was built in 1999 and renovated this year. It is on more than 3 acres.
The plant employs about 60 workers who make pork sausage onsite that is shipped fresh daily to regional grocery stores, including Walmart, Giant Eagle, Aldi, Shop ’n Save, Kuhn’s and other independent grocery stores.
Founded by the late Charles Armitage, Uncle Charley’s produces and delivers specialty sausages and meat products to more than 600 retail markets in more than five states, among them Ohio, Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Founder Armitage sold his business in 2014 to Pittsburgh-based investors F.N.B. Capital Partners along with local investors Jim Rudolph and Len Caric.
Kevin Riley, president of Totum Advisors of Pittsburgh, is the listing agent. He said there’s been “significant interest” in the facility.
