A Buffalo Township man is accused of ordering his mother out of his house at gunpoint and then firing a shot at her while she was walking away.

Andrew John Vento, 31, of the 300 block of Shuster Drive was charged with a felony count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon along with counts of reckless endangerment and making terroristic threats.

He was being detained in the Butler County jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond to await a preliminary hearing before District Judge Sue Haggerty on Sept. 12.

Police wrote in a criminal complaint that Vento was gone from his house when they responded to a 911 call placed by his mother.

The woman told them that she went to Vento’s house and found him passed out from drinking, the complaint said.

After awakening, Vento left the house while his mother was using the bathroom so she called a friend of his to “come over and help with the situation,” the complaint said.

The woman told police that her son’s friend arrived and took two handguns that were sitting out in the open and placed them in his truck for safety, police said.

A short time later, Vento returned to the house and got a Glock 9 mm, pointed it at his mother and ordered her to get off his property, according to the complaint.

The woman told police she was walking down the driveway when she heard a gunshot ring out and felt gravel hitting her legs, the complaint said.

When she looked back to the house, she saw Vento’s friend tackling him to the ground, police said. Vento then left the scene in a white Land Rover, according to investigators.

Police said they confiscated the Glock and the two guns Vento’s friend had.

The friend told police he grabbed Vento’s arm and pushed it away as Vento was firing the gun toward his mother, the complaint said.

Officers found a spent 9 mm shell casing that was fired from the Glock, the complaint said.
