A Kiski Township man is accused of driving under the influence of drugs with two children in the back seat of his car.
Kiski Township police charged Kevin William Zetler, 34, with DUI, child endangerment and traffic violations in a traffic stop at North Second and North 11th streets about 9 p.m. Jan. 22, according to a criminal complaint.
Police said they pulled over Zetler because his car was traveling more than 50 mph in a 35-mph zone and ran a stop sign.
Officer Thomas Dessell Jr. said he smelled marijuana from inside Zetler’s car and saw two children in the back. Outside the car, police said Zetler showed signs of impairment.
Zetler told police he last smoked marijuana about noon, the complaint said. Police said they found a marijuana pipe and a clear plastic jar containing loose marijuana behind a passenger seat.
Police arranged for the mother of the children to pick them up.
The criminal complaint said Zetler had been out on bail on charges stemming from a previous arrest. Online court records show Apollo police filed a dozen charges against Zetler in April 2019, including three counts each of indecent assault of a person younger than 13, indecent exposure, child endangerment and corruption of minors. He is awaiting trial in Armstrong County Common Pleas Court in that case.
Zetler is being held in Armstrong County Jail. A preliminary hearing in the latest case is scheduled for Feb. 3.
