A Pittsburgh man was arrested Friday morning on felony charges after a drug task force raided a house in New Kensington and found him in possession of close to 2 ounces of crack cocaine and other evidence of drug dealing, according to authorities.

Jordan Edwin James, 30, of the 3400 block of Milwaukee Street in Pittsburgh’s Hill District faces a felony count of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver as well as two counts of drug possession.

James was being detained in the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bond, according to court records. He faces a preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. on Sept. 8.

Agents from the state Attorney General’s Office along with members of the Westmoreland County Drug Task Force and New Kensington police arrested James while executing a search warrant around 11:30 a.m. at a home in 600 block of Fourth Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.

Police broke through the door after announcing that the warrant was being served and detained a man and a woman in the living room, the complaint said. The pair were not identified in the complaint.

While officers were entering the house James peeked out of a bedroom and then quickly shut the door, police said.

Police took him into custody and began searching the house, the complaint said.

Investigators said they found a baggie with 1.8 ounces of crack cocaine hidden behind a bedroom dresser.

Other items found in the bedroom included a variety of pills, a digital scale with cocaine residue, two crack pipes and a box of baggies to package drugs for sale, the complaint said.

Police also found ammunition for a 9mm pistol in the living room closet and said James had $600 cash on him.

According to police. the drugs confiscated in the raid were field tested and came back positive for cocaine.
