Traffic restrictions have been lifted on a bridge that crosses Pucketa Creek at the border of Plum and Lower Burrell.

A $1.1 million construction project on the Logans Ferry Road bridge began about five months ago. Work included replacing the span over the creek and improving guardrails, sidewalks, barriers and pavement markings, PennDOT said.

The 75-foot-long bridge opened in 1949 and was rated in poor condition before the replacement project, according to PennDOT.

When construction began in June, PennDOT restricted traffic on the bridge to a single, alternating lane. About 12,000 vehicles use the bridge daily.

Industrial Terminal Systems, a packaging company near the bridge, relies on large trucks getting to and from the facility. Lisa Ingle, an administrative assistant with the company, said the project slowed down traffic in the area but the restrictions did not hurt business. She said most drivers remained cooperative and polite during the project.

Steve Cowan, a spokesman for the PennDOT district that includes Allegheny, Beaver and Lawrence counties, could not be reached.
