Scarlett Lewis, whose son Jesse was one of 26 people killed at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, has rescheduled a free presentation at Burrell High School on her “Choose Love” educational program for April 1.

She canceled a presentation scheduled for last month because she was ill.

Lewis, whose “Choose Love” social emotional learning program is part of Burrell’s curriculum, will talk about applying the program’s concepts at home and in the community. The goal of the program is to teach children and adults alike to “learn to choose a loving thought over an angry one,” according to a program website.

Burrell is the first Pennsylvania public school district to incorporate Lewis’ learning program as mandatory for all students, according to district officials.

Lewis spoke last year to Burrell district educators, law enforcement and students.

The April 1 event is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. in the Burrell High School auditorium in Lower Burrell.
