Springdale Township closes municipal building due to covid increase
The Springdale Township Municipal Building is closed to in-person visits as a result of the recent increase in covid-19 cases.
Anyone needing to drop off or pick up documents at the facility can still do so but no one other than employees is allowed inside. Other business can be conducted by calling 724-274-4034.
“The township building is still functioning,” said Springdale Township Commissioners President Anthony Rozzano. “All the workers are wearing masks, but it’s closed to the public until further notice.”
The Springdale Township commissioners voted unanimously last week to close its municipal building as a result of the countywide hike in covid-19 cases.
This is the first week the township has instituted its no visitors policy.
The building, located on Plate Drive in Harwick, was closed for about a year from March 2020 until this past spring because of the pandemic.
Rozzano said the commissioners believe they are dealing with a health and safety issue.
“You want to put a price on somebody’s health and safety?” Rozzano said. “I’d rather be safe than sorry. We’re still functioning, work is being done in the township and people can still get documents. We just want to eliminate gatherings of people for the time being.”
Rozzano said there is no projected date for the building’s reopening.
