Suspect in New Kensington tried to jump out window, police say

A man tried to jump out a third-floor window of a Valley Royal Court apartment in New Kensington, where police said they later found drugs hidden inside a toilet, according to a criminal complaint.
Police charged Sean Barr, 27, of New Kensington on Thursday with felony and misdemeanor drug offenses and a misdemeanor weapons offense, according to court records.
New Kensington officers and state attorney general’s agents arrived at the apartment around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. While officers were forcing open the door after knocks went unanswered, officers outside said they saw a man trying to get out through the window on the third floor, according to a criminal complaint.
Barr was seen coming out of a bedroom once police got inside the apartment, they said. No one else was there.
Barr’s arrest papers said police found four bundles of fentanyl, a bag with 25 grams of cocaine and 20 grams of crystal meth inside a toilet tank. Also found were a .22-caliber Taurus pistol, ammunition and two digital scales.
The drugs had a combined street value of just over $4,000, the complaint states.
Barr was found to have an arrest warrant for felony drug charges filed by New Kensington police on July 16, making him a fugitive not allowed to possess a firearm, the complaint states.
Barr was arraigned Thursday before New Kensington District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. and sent to the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 24.
Authorities were at Valley Royal Court on a case involving drugs and weapons a week ago, when four people, including a member of the Pagans motorcycle gang, were arrested.
In that case, Bill Robert Rana, once an officer in the Pagans Pittsburgh chapter, Marc D. Farabaugh, Stephanie Lynn Miller and Ciera Lynn Siegworth are scheduled for preliminary hearings Oct. 17 before Pallone.
