The Washington/Bell Township Lions Club will stock trout in Pine Run in Kunkle Park on Saturday.

The fish are donated by the Blackleggs Creek trout nursery in Clarksburg, Indiana County, according to John Turack of the Lions Club.

The stocking of about 200 fish is for young anglers, ages 10 and under. Trout fishing can begin right after the stocking, the same day if time permits.

Beginning May 21, the fishing area will be open to the public for anglers of all ages.

Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission fishing regulations apply.

The Lions Club has been stocking Kunkle Park for about 5 years. A second stocking is planned possibly in May.

The Lions Club, along with other groups, are considering stocking another section of Pine Run in Allegheny Township. They began testing the water for suitability on Friday and discovered a healthy variety and population of fish, according to Chelsea Walker, watershed specialist with the Westmoreland Conservation District.

Kunkle Park is located at 285 Pine Run Church Road, behind the Washington Township municipal building.
