A Vandergrift woman is accused by borough police of punching and kicking at least four people earlier this week, including two police officers — one of whom she allegedly kicked in the face when she was taken to the police station.

Police say Jaden Nicole Etchison, 21, of Vandergrift got into a fight with two teens she knew in the borough on Monday. Police were called and talked to the teenage victims, and later learned one had a concussion. Etchison punched both teens in the head, police said.

Police found Etchison near the Vandergrift home where the fight occurred and they told her they were going to detain her for safety reasons.

They handcuffed her. Police tried to move her closer to their police car to separate her from the victims, but Etchison fell to the ground, went limp and would not go to the police car. Police eventually persuaded her to move, then Allegheny Township police showed up to assist. She continued to resist getting into the police car, according to court documents filed by police.

Before they got her into the car, Etchison kicked a rear door, causing damage, police said.

Once in the car, Etchison started to slam her head against the partition in the back seat. When they took her out of the car, she kicked the officers, kicking one in the face, according to court documents.

Police eventually drove her to Forbes Hospital in Monroeville for a mental health evaluation.

The two victims were examined by medics at the police station.

Etchison is facing three counts of aggravated assault, five counts of simple assault, institutional vandalism, harassment, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Her preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 19 before Allegheny Township District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec.

Etchison could not be reached for comment.
