A 1920 Flapper dress with rhinestone trim is one of numerous fashions from the personal collection of the late W.H. Brown family of Pittsburgh on exhibit through August at the Kerr Memorial Museum in Oakmont.

Explore the elegant fashions of the late 1800s with an ongoing Victorian-themed exhibit at The Kerr Memorial Museum.

“The Brown Collection Exhibit” shows through August and features a mix of stunning clothing from the gilded 1880s to the roaring 1920s.

The collection was donated the W.H. Brown family. The exhibit runs through Aug. 23.

Brown was a wealthy coal and shipping industrialist, and the exhibit includes fashions worn by his socialite wife Margaret Boyle and his brother Samuel Brown.

“Don’t miss this chance to learn more about our Pittsburgh past, a family much like the Fricks and the Carnegies, and the fashions that still make us swoon over 100 years later,” said museum board member and volunteer Joan Stewart.

The museum is open by appointment only. Tours are guided by museum docents and operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Prices are $15 adults, $13 seniors and $8 students. Credit cards are not accepted.

The Kerr Museum is located at 402 Delaware Avenue in Oakmont. To schedule a tour call 412-826-9295.
