A memorial to Roxanne Bonnoni, the 11-year-old killed by a vehicle in Natrona on Tuesday, continues to grow along North Canal Street.

A public vigil to honor the life of Roxanne Alexis Bonnoni is rescheduled for tonight.

The vigil is scheduled for 9 p.m. at the grassy field along North Canal Street in Harrison’s Natrona neighborhood.

Bonnoni, 11, was killed while crossing the road near her home Tuesday evening.

Bonnoni was hearing impaired and was to start as a student at the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf.

A yet-to-be-identified-person driving a Jeep Patriot hit Bonnoni around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and was taken into custody by police.

Natrona resident Denise Parkin confirmed the new time for the vigil.

The field is a popular play spot for children in the neighborhood.

A growing memorial at the nearest intersection with Kuntz Street is packed with flowers, condolence messages and stuffed animals.

“This is a very bad tragedy and our hearts go out to her family. I have no words. I’m still in shock,” Parkin said.

Parkin said the family is organizing the vigil, but details remain limited.

“This is my first vigil and I’ve never done this before,” Parkin said. “It’s very emotional for the family.”

Anyone is welcome to attend the vigil and people from other communities are expected to attend.

Parking is prohibited along North Canal Street.

Attendees are asked to park near the Natrona Park and walk to the vigil.

“It’s very important that we all be there and support this family as a community. We need to be there for the family,” Parkin.
