A woman is accused of stealing more than $34,000 from the Washington Township man she lived with in 2021 by using his debit card and Social Security numbers to pay for online purchases.

Rebecca Lynn Hubert, 55, who previously lived in Apollo and Vandergrift, faces seven felony charges. They include forgery, theft, receiving stolen property, access device fraud, criminal use of a communications facility and theft by deception.

Hubert was being detained in the Westmoreland County jail in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond, according to court records. She faces a preliminary hearing on the charges before District Judge Jason Buczak on Monday, June 5.

Washington Township police began investigating the bank thefts in April 2022 after the man Hubert lived with for two years told police she was using his debit card to buy merchandise online without his permission, according to a criminal complaint.

The man told police he doesn’t shop online and has no accounts with internet retailers.

Hubert also is accused of using the man’s banking information and Social Security number to open four Amazon accounts, including one in the name of her granddaughter — who was a toddler at the time, the complaint said.

Another alleged theft occurred when Hubert asked the man to pay fines she owed at District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec’s office.

The man wrote “Becky’s fine” in the memo box but didn’t fill out the remainder of the check, the complaint said.

Police said Hubert wrote the check out to herself for $3,000, signed the back to endorse and cashed it.

Investigators learned the fines Hubert owes total $1,000 but were never paid.

Hubert also faces a preliminary hearing on Tuesday before Peck Yakopec for a misdemeanor drug charge filed by Vandergrift police Nov. 29.

Court records show Hubert pleaded guilty in February 2022 to two misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence. She was sentenced to six months of probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. Those charges were filed by Allegheny Township police in August 2018, court records show.
