Southern Armstrong County Police accused a woman of assaulting an officer Tuesday morning when he arrested her for repeatedly calling 911 to report a break-in at a home in Gilpin they say never happened.

Auriahna Claudette Price, 33, of the 200 block of South Jefferson Street in Kittanning is charged with a felony count of aggravated assault and counts of false reports to law enforcement and resisting arrest.

She was being detained in the Armstrong County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond to await a preliminary hearing Dec. 21 before District Judge James Andring.

Police wrote in a criminal complaint that, shortly before 4:30 a.m. Dec. 12, an officer responded to a home along Evergreen Road in Gilpin for a report that someone was trying to break into the residence.

It was the third call to the home in four hours, police said, and each time Price told them there was no emergency and that she was “just hearing voices,” the complaint said.

Police said Price began screaming and resisting when an officer tried to arrest her for making false reports to law enforcement.

The officer said Price kicked him in the neck, the body and his legs before he was able to place her in handcuffs and take her into custody, the complaint said.

The arrest was not Price’s first run-in with police.

Court records show Price is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge James Owen on Feb. 7 to face a marijuana charge filed by state police on Dec. 6 in Rayburn Township.

On Oct. 28, state police in Rural Valley charged Price with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, according to court records. She waived her right to a preliminary hearing Nov. 7 before District Judge Kevin Lee McCausland, who ordered her to stand trial in Armstrong County Court.

Price pleaded guilty in August 2020 to a felony count of criminal trespass and was sentenced to six months to two years in jail. The charges were filed by state police in Indiana in February 2020.

Price pleaded guilty in June 2020 to a count of drug possession filed by Indiana police and was sentenced to a year of probation, court records show.
