A large water main break Sunday forced a road closure for residents in Wilkins Township.

Most residents who were without water Sunday because of a large water main break on Rodi Road have had services restored, although another active water main break has yet to be resolved.

The break was first reported Saturday afternoon, and caused road closures into Sunday, according to Wilkins Township Volunteer Fire Department.

The “majority of the areas affected” were restored late Sunday night, according to the fire department.

There is, however, still an active water main break on Railroad Street. There was not a timeframe for when that would be resolved.

A gas line was also broken in the Rodi Road incident.

People’s Gas said the issue started when Wilkinsburg Penn Joint Water Authority crew hit a water main line, which also damaged a gas line, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

People’s said the gas line was repaired Saturday.
