A Mt. Pleasant Township man was killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday night in the township, according to Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson.

William K. Dodrill Jr., 44, of Ricci Lane died of blunt force injuries when the Harley Davidson motorcycle he was operating left the side of Hecla Road for an unknown reason and he became separated from the bike, Carson said.

Dodrill was not wearing a helmet, Carson said.

Dodrill was riding alone on the motorcycle as he headed east near 713 Hecla Road.

The crash was reported shortly after 8:15 p.m., a Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher said.

A section of the road was closed to traffic near the intersection of Reservoir Road as state police investigated and Norvelt firefighters assisted at the scene.
