Person killed in 2-vehicle collision in Sewickley Township identified
The man killed in a two-vehicle, head-on crash Tuesday afternoon in Sewickley Township has been identified.
Dean B. Carlson, 71, of North Huntingdon was traveling north on Clay Pike Road in a Hyundai Accent when a Ford F-150 driving south crossed over the center line near Orchard Drive and the two collided, according to Pennsylvania State Police and Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson. The pickup, being driven by Jason L. Underwood, 53, of Herminie, burst into flames.
Underwood was able to get out and had minor injuries, police said. He was taken to AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, Carson said. The crash was reported at 4:15 p.m. and it was captured on area surveillance video.
Both vehicles were seized. Police said they conducted an extensive interview with Underwood after his medical care was complete.
Herminie and Circleville firefighters and Sewickley EMS were among first responders dispatched to the wreck.
