2 flown from motorcycle crash in South Huntingdon

One of two people transported by medical helicopter following a July 5 motorcycle crash in South Huntingdon has died, according to emergency officials.

First responders were called to the intersection of Route 31 and Nichols Lane for a report of a motorcycle crash shortly after 1:30 p.m. Two patients, Dennis Converso Sr. and Cheryl A. Converso of West Newton, were taken by medical helicopter to area hospitals.

Cheryl Converso, 61, later died of injuries sustained in the crash, according to the couple’s son, Dennis Converso Jr. Converse Sr. remained in intensive care as of July 13.

Cheryl worked for over 20 years at Sony in New Stanton, building television circuit boards. She later went on to work as a waitress at The Palace in Herminie and also Cracker Barrel in New Stanton

Route 31 was closed between Hughes Lane and Kildigin Road as crews investigated the crash.
