An Allegheny County couple are accused of using a Greensburg area man’s personal information to open more than a dozen credit card, personal loan and bank accounts over the last year.
Greensburg Detective Charles Irvin has filed complaints of identity theft, criminal conspiracy, forgery and theft by deception against Joseph Salmon, 42, and Emily Prevenslik, 32, both of Duquesne, before District Judge Chris Flanigan.
Police are still tabulating the total losses but the couple are accused of taking out personal loans, opening credit card accounts at numerous stores including Walmart and Lowes and having Direct TV installed at Salmon’s home along the 300 block of Commonwealth Avenue in Duquesne.
Salmon was recently arrested by Duquesne police on drug-related charges in an unrelated incident and is being held in the Allegheny County Jail, according to online court dockets. Irvin said Salmon will be arraigned before Flanigan on the multiple complaints in Westmoreland County at a later date.
Irvin reported Prevenslik is expected to turn herself in to police.
The victim told Irvin he was acquainted with Prevenslik “but there has been no relationship between them for more than 12 years.”
He said he began noting suspicious activity on his credit last September and notified police in April.
“They listed the victim as living at their residence as Duquesne and the victim has never lived there. His credit is basically ruined,” Irvin said.
