The Giveback Box program gives bettors a chance to donate to local nonprofits at Live! Casino Pittsburgh in Westmoreland Mall.

Winners at Live! Casino Pittsburgh have the chance to give back.

Two donation boxes, known as The Giveback Box, are at the Hempfield casino, where guests can contribute slot tickets, cash or table game chips to support local charities. This quarter, benefiting organizations include United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania and Central Westmoreland Habitat for Humanity.

“As a proud member of the community, the Live! Casino family remains focused on giving back to worthy causes,” said Jill Eden, director of guest services, in a news release. “The casino receives frequent inquiries for donations and sponsorships, and this program showcases these organizations and allows our guests to give back, as well.”

At the end of each fiscal quarter, funds collected in the boxes are split evenly between the charities. At that time, two charities will be selected by Live! Casino’s Charitable Contributions Review Committee.

Since the casino’s November opening at Westmoreland Mall, staffers have spent time volunteering at organizations in the community.

Despite the casino being closed in compliance with mitigation orders aimed at stopping a surge of covid-19 cases across the state at the time, staffers in December donated food and volunteer hours to the Delmont-based Westmoreland County Food Bank.

At the time, more than 1,000 pounds of food was donated to the food bank, including 250 holiday hams. Employees volunteered to pack boxes distributed to local families.

The Giveback Box program, which began last week, originated as a Live! in the Community effort. Boxes at Live! Casino Pittsburgh are at the main entrance and at the upstairs restaurant, Sports & Social Steel City.

Organizations interested in receiving donations through the program can apply on the Live! Casino website.
