Four people who were inside a Greensburg home when their friend overdosed allegedly dragged the unconscious man into the street instead of calling for help, city police allege in court documents filed Friday.
Deborah A. Carnes, 57, and Timothy J. Fairman, 52, of Greensburg; Matthew T. Caldwell, 45, of Mt. Pleasant, and Tammie L. Bryer, 56, of Latrobe, are charged before Greensburg District Judge Chris Flanigan with reckless endangerment and summary citations by city police in connection with the 2:47 a.m. Monday incident.
Officer Kenneth Burke reported that police were dispatched to Madison Avenue for a report of several people “dragging an unconscious man down the street.”
Burke said when he arrived he found an unconscious Greensburg man along the street and Carnes, Fairman, Bryer and Caldwell nearby.
“Carnes initially stated she had no idea what happened and advised (the victim) was not at her house (on Madison Avenue),” Burke wrote.
Burke said that the witness who reported the incident told police that she heard an argument, looked outside and saw “Carnes yelling at the unconscious man in her yard to get up and get out.” She then observed the two men and Carnes dragging him down the street, according to police reports.
“Carnes then struck the unconscious male several times,” Burke said the witness told him.
Burke said that he noticed blood on Carnes’s pants and shoes as she was being interviewed. He said police also saw blood marks along the sidewalk from Carnes’s residence to the area where the victim was discovered “like he had been dragged.”
Police reports indicated the man was revived after receiving medical attention. Police also confiscated drug paraphernalia including crack pipes out of Bryer’s purse, police said.
The complaints were served via mailed summons, according to court dockets. A preliminary hearing is scheduled Nov. 7.
