A Hempfield man is accused of kicking and punching state troopers called to break up a fight outside a Mt. Pleasant Road home Sunday night.
John P. Henigan, 26, was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, resisting arrest and simple assault after troopers Robert Dietz, Troy Faulk and David Vinkler were called to the house when residents reported two men were outside yelling at one another.
When police arrived, Vinkler said troopers attempted to diffuse the altercation.
Henigan was “covered in mud” with blood running from his nose and a cut over his left eye, Vinkler said. Police said he “showed signs of intoxication” and became combative and aggressive when officers asked his name.
Officers put Henigan to the ground in an attempt to control him, but he kicked Faulk in the legs, according to court papers.
When troopers helped Henigan to his feet to put him to the patrol car, he took a swing at Faulk, police allege.
The second man in the altercation was not charged, according to court records.
Henigan was ordered held in the county prison Monday after he failed to post $25,000 bail pending a preliminary hearing March 17.
