5-month probe lands Mt. Pleasant Township man in jail on firearms charges

Following a five-month investigation, state police in Greensburg said they arrested a Mt. Pleasant Township man Thursday for illegal possession of multiple firearms including a AR-15 rifle and grinding off the serial numbers so they could not be traced.
Michael C. Lint, 33, was arrested by state police following the probe that began in January when Lint’s ex-girlfriend told troopers that she had given Lint four weapons including the AR-15 rifle, a .45 caliber handgun, a .410 pistol and a .308 rifle and scope but he refused to give them back after the couple separated.
Trooper John Beynon reported in court documents that Lint has been convicted of felony assault and theft, which makes it illegal for him to possess a firearm.
After troopers acquired a search warrant March 30 from District Judge Anthony Bompiani in Youngwood, police discovered the ex’s four firearms, plus another 9 mm handgun and a .380 handgun, numerous magazines and ammunition, according to court documents filed by Trooper John Beynon.
Beynon reported that the two handguns that were not his former girlfriend’s were both reported stolen in 2013 in Greensburg and Irwin.
During an interview, Beynon said that Lint denied knowing the handguns were stolen. Beynon said Lint also claimed his ex-girlfriend also requested him to “grind the serial numbers off.”
Lint is charged with multiple counts of receiving stolen property, illegal possession of firearms, altering firearm marks of identification and theft.
Lint was released on $25,000 unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing June 6.
