Two women accused of going on a spending spree last month and stealing a Greensburg man’s wallet failed in a bid for redemption, according to city police.

Alexis Hudson, 23, of Ford City and Emily Jean Long, 21, of Kittanning are charged with theft, access device fraud and receiving stolen property in connection with the Feb. 6 theft at SeaBase Family Fun Center in Greensburg. They allegedly used a credit card from the man’s wallet to charge hundreds of dollars at several stores and a restaurant in Westmoreland Mall in Hempfield and later at the Honey Bear Sunoco in North Apollo.

Detectives Charles Irvin and John Swank identified the pair from tips received after posting photographs of the suspects on the police department’s Facebook page.

Swank said after the women saw their photographs on social media they attempted to make amends and return the credit card.

“They told us they Googled the victim’s name and found his address and came back to this area and put the credit card in his mailbox. They thought they were returning the card to him, but it turns out that victim has not lived at that address in at least 10 years,” Swank said. “They told us they returned the credit card … after they saw their photographs on social media.”

“We don’t know what happened to the credit card, but the victim had canceled it by then anyway,” Swank said.

Court records indicate Hudson and Long were with a 2-year-old girl at SeaBase when the theft occurred. When officers interviewed the women, Swank said Hudson returned multiple items of clothing, tennis shoes and earrings purchased with the stolen card.

Hudson and Long were mailed a summons. They could not be reached for comment.

A preliminary hearing is April 16.
