Deadline nears to order T-shirts in support of Greensburg VFD cancer research benefit
Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department is looking to step up participation in its annual T-shirt sale so it can help “knock down” breast cancer.
As in each of the past six years, the department’s goal is to sell more than 200 of the shirts, allowing it to donate $2,000 to the Pink Angel Fund of Westmoreland Walks. Formed in 2002, that volunteer group works to raise breast cancer awareness, fund research to help find a cure and provide support to local patients, survivors and their families.
During last year’s sale, the fire department received orders for more than 230 shirts. According to Greensburg VFD President Rick Steele, this year’s sale has gone more slowly, with orders for just 75 shirts as of Labor Day weekend.
Sunday is the final day to place a pre-order for one of the shirts and join the “GVFD Support Squad.”
Prices are $25 for an adult shirt in sizes small to 2XL, $30 for 3XL or 4XL. Visit gbgfire.com to place an order.
