A Delmont woman was treated at Forbes Regional Hospital Saturday for multiple head injuries after she was beaten and kicked inside her apartment Saturday.

Police later found the 19-year-old suspect, Brett T. Baer, at the Murrysville Sportzone and Dek Hockey facility on South School Road, Murrysville.

Baer, of Delmont, was arraigned on charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, harassment, simple assault and terroristic threats filed by borough police after the 9:25 p.m. incident.

Officer Robert Jones said the woman, who is related to Baer, called dispatchers asking for help, “saying someone was trying to kill her.”

Jones said he could hear an “active fight” in the background of the telephone call.

When Jones arrived, he said the woman was waiting for police outside an apartment on White Valley Road “bleeding profusely from the left side of her head.”

Jones called an ambulance and went inside and discovered blood throughout the living room.

The woman told police that she and Baer had gotten into a verbal argument that became physical and he threw her on the floor and “repeatedly kicked her in the head.” Jones said in court documents Baer became angry when the woman questioned him about returning from an area gas station and not buying her a drink.

The woman told Jones that Baer went into his bedroom, retrieved a knife and threatened to kill her.

Police found the knife in Baer’s bedroom, but he had fled. An search of the area by Delmont, Murrysville and state police yielded no results, but another relative of Baer called police and reported he was at the sports facility.

Jones said Baer surrendered without incident. He was arraigned before Ligonier District Judge Denise Thiel and ordered to jail after failing to post $50,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Oct. 6.
