A 47-year-old Derry Township man was arrested by state police Friday for harassing and stalking a teenage girl who he is accused of allegedly sexually assaulting for nearly a year.
Jason E. Matty was charged with corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old, statutory sexual assault, harassment, criminal mischief, and stalking after he allegedly harassed the victim, leaving text messages, condoms and women’s underwear near the victim’s home.
Troopers said the victim alleged Matty spray-painted an explicit message on the side of her residence.
Matty was arraigned before Night Court Judge Cheryl Peck-Yakopec on Saturday and ordered held in the Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $5,000 bail.
Trooper John Robertson reported in court documents Matty had been told to stay away from the girl.
When questioned at 12:49 p.m. Saturday, Matty admitted sending the victim text messages and leaving the items in the victim’s driveway, Robertson said in court documents.
Matty’s preliminary hearing is scheduled June 12 before Derry District Judge Mark Bilik.
