The driver of a minivan was reportedly injured Monday when she failed to negotiate a sharp curve along Route 981 in the Mt. Pleasant Township village of Trauger and went over an embankment, emergency officials reported.

The accident occurred at 10:09 a.m. at the intersection of Route 981 and Dutch Hill Road, according to Westmoreland County dispatch reports.

The state highway was closed for about 45 minutes as volunteer firefighters from Trauger and Pleasant Unity assisted in extricating the woman from her vehicle.

The severely damaged van was teetering on an embankment above Sewickley Creek, near the Trauger fire hall.

The unidentified woman was taken to an undisclosed area hospital by an ambulance unit from Mt. Pleasant EMS.

State police in Greensburg were investigating. No further information was immediately available.
