Driver taken into custody after car plows into house in Jeannette
No one was injured when a woman drove a sport utility vehicle off Welker Street and into the corner of a Harrison Avenue house in Jeannette late Friday night.
The SUV went into the house backwards.
Police, firefighters and EMS responded to the corner of Welker Street and Harrison Avenue (Route 130) shortly before 11:30 p.m. for a report of a vehicle striking a house.
Two people inside the house were unhurt, Jeannette Fire Chief William Frye said.
“The car went about two-and-a-half feet into the house,” Frye said.
The car also knocked over a tree that struck a utility pole on its way to the ground.
Jeannette police took the female driver into custody shortly after the crash. She was not immediately identified.
“It’s going to be interesting towing it out of here,” Frye said.
