State police are looking for a Subaru that hit an 8-year-old boy who was riding a bicycle in Penn Borough and fled the scene.

State police said Thursday the driver of a white Subaru car that hit an 8-year-old boy riding a bicycle in Penn Borough and left the scene contacted them after media coverage of the incident.

Trooper Steve Limani identified the driver as David Baker, 48, of Connellsville. No charges have been filed.

“We’re not looking for the car anymore,” Limani said.

Police released information about the collision on Wednesday and photographs of the white Subaru car, pleading for help from the public to identify the driver. Limani said that after the driver hit the boy, he got out of the car, removed the bicycle from in front of it and drove away.

The collision happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday on Emma Street. The boy was with a group of children riding bicycles on the street in a residential area.

He was discharged later that night after being treated at UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was recovering at home from a concussion and a knee injury.
