Export man accused of selling meth to undercover state agent
An Export man was arraigned Wednesday on charges of selling crystal methamphetamine to an undercover agent with the state attorney general’s office Sept. 30 and Oct. 9.
Ryan J. Fredericks, 24, was charged with multiple criminal charges including two felony counts of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substances by Agent Jerry Vernail.
Vernail said in court documents that he received a tip from a confidential informant that Fredericks was selling crystal methamphetamine throughout Westmoreland County.
Vernail reported that separate purchases were set up with Fredericks, first on Sept. 30 in the parking lot of a coin laundry service on Kennedy Avenue in Export, and the second on Oct. 9 in the parking lot of the Family Video store on South Main Street in Greensburg.
During the Greensburg sale, officers reported that Frederick — who has also recently lived in Apollo in Armstrong County and Wilmerding in Allegheny County — was familiar with the agent as a result of the first sale, climbed in the passenger side of the undercover officer’s car “and dropped small (plastic) baggies containing clear crystals in the cupholder.”
Agents used marked bills to pay for the drugs during both purchases, Vernail reported.
Fredericks was also wanted on a bench warrant recently issued by Common Pleas Judge Tim Krieger for violating his parole on separate fleeing and eluding cases involving Murrysville Police in 2018. Fredericks was charged with fleeing police in Penn Hills and disorderly conduct for an incident there May 22, according to court dockets.
District Judge Chris Flanigan ordered Fredericks held in the county prison without bail noting in court records that “he is a flight risk and a danger to the community.”
An attorney for Fredericks was not listed in court records.
