A Fayette County man is behind bars after state police said he solicited partially-clothed pictures from a 12-year-old girl for $200.

Neal A. Snyder Jr., 39, claimed to have been high on drugs when he contacted the girl, according to court papers.

He was arrested Wednesday on charges of corruption of minors, unlawful contact, solicitation and criminal use of a communication facility.

Troopers said they reviewed text messages Saturday that showed Snyder claimed to have permission from the girl’s mother when he asked the child for the photographs. During an interview, the girl told investigators about several occasions in which Snyder showed her pornographic videos and offered her presents or cash to perform the same acts, according to court papers.

Snyder was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $50,000 bail. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. An Aug. 21 preliminary hearing is set.

He is awaiting trial on strangulation and related charges stemming from a December incident in Youngwood, according to online court records. Snyder was ordered to spend one year in a probationary program in Somerset County in May for an impaired driving offense.
