Former employee at North Huntingdon auto parts store accused of burglary, theft

A former employee at a North Huntingdon auto parts store was arrested for burglary after a security camera caught him entering the store after hours late Saturday, according to township police.

Stephen M. Wray, 40, of North Huntingdon and a former employee at Spitz Auto on Route 30, was arrested for burglary, criminal trespass, theft and receiving stolen property and arraigned before District Judge Wayne Gongaware. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond pending a Sept. 4 preliminary hearing.

Officer Joseph Riley said store security cameras captured a male wearing a hoodie, crouched between cars in the parking lot about 11:30 p.m. Saturday “and then sprinting towards the main entrance.” Police said the suspect entered through a rear garage door.

Once inside, reported the suspect opened the cash register and fled with more than $160 in cash.

Riley said he recognized Wray as the suspect from earlier incidents.

Police said Wray utilized an old security code he was assigned to access the cash register.

Wray was fired this year for theft, police said.

Riley reported Wray admitted the burglary during an interview Sunday.
