Students in the Franklin Regional School District were among the first in the region to begin classes when they arrived at school on Wednesday. Start dates for other schools in the county include:

Thursday — Hempfield Area elementary and high school, Jeannette City, Monessen City, Norwin, Penn-Trafford.

Friday — Hempfield Area grades 7-8, Belle Vernon Area.

Monday — Derry Area, Greater Latrobe, Ligonier Valley, Mt. Pleasant Area.

Tuesday — Greensburg Salem, Yough.

Wednesday — Southmoreland.
