A 14-karat gold chain reported stolen from a Rostraver home was pawned in Florida weeks later, leading police south in their search for a suspect in the shooting death of a 24-year-old woman, according to court papers.

On Monday, they filed homicide charges against that suspect — Dorian C. Jeri-Greene, 39 — in connection with the April 11 death of Jennah M. Seibert, 24.

Westmoreland County detectives and Rostraver police detailed in court papers their investigation over the past month that led them to narrow in on Jeri-Greene, who was arrested last week in Tampa on an unrelated warrant from an incident in Donora.

Authorities said they used residential and business surveillance video, traffic cameras and license plate readers to track Jeri-Greene’s movements before and after Seibert’s death.

Jeri-Greene was seen walking on the Donora Monessen Bridge at 3:18 a.m. April 11 in the direction of Seibert’s home, according to court papers. At 7:41 a.m., Seibert’s fiance, Bryan Murray, was seen on surveillance video leaving their Lenity School Road home. Nine minutes later, the suspect, wearing dark clothing and a mask and carrying a rifle, emerged from behind a storage shed on the property before electrical service to the house was cut, police said.

Seibert was shot multiple times. Murray told police that, after not hearing from her that morning, he returned home around noon to find her dead.

By that time, the suspect was long gone in the couple’s Lexus SUV with numerous pieces of jewelry, according to court papers. A safe in the basement was damaged, but its contents — including marijuana, drug paraphernalia and multiple firearms — were not taken.

Police tracked the stolen SUV to Monongahela, where the suspect made a purchase in a convenience store around 9:30 a.m.

Surveillance images from the store of him — then labeled a “person of interest” by investigators — were released publicly in an effort to identify him. Tips from police and the public pointed to Jeri-Greene and a home where he was staying just outside Donora, about 3 miles from Lenity School Road, according to court papers.

A witness told investigators that Jeri-Greene called the Lenity School Road home a “good money house” at some point before the shooting. On April 12, the witness said he saw Jeri-Greene with a diamond necklace, two days before the suspect left town, according to court papers.

Records from a pawn shop in Florida showed Jeri-Greene sold numerous pieces of jewelry May 2 and 3. Police said they tracked him down in a residential area of Tampa, where authorities there arrested him May 13 on the unrelated Washington County warrant. They seized loose diamonds and a pair of sneakers the suspect was seen wearing in the convenience store image, according to court papers.

Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli and Rostraver Police Chief Scott Sokol in a joint statement commended the cooperation of local, state and federal police to develop a suspect and make an arrest, as well as the public for providing tips to investigators.

“The amount of time and resources dedicated to this investigation was astounding and ultimately led to this arrest today,” Ziccarelli said. “I hope this brings the family of Jennah Seibert, and the community, some relief as we work toward justice for her.”

Jeri-Greene, who is from Carroll Township, Washington County, remained at a Florida jail. He is awaiting extradition. He is charged in Westmoreland County with homicide, robbery, burglary and three counts of theft.

In the case related to the Donora incident, Jeri-Greene is accused of breaking into a woman’s home and choking and attacking her, according to court papers. Borough police said the woman’s cellphone and smartwatch were broken during that Feb. 2 incident.

A warrant was issued for his arrest three days later on charges including burglary, robbery and assault, according to court records.
