Golden Retrievers gathering set in Ligonier

A celebration of Golden Retrievers in Ligonier, or “A Golden Gathering with Paws on Main,” will benefit Stahlstown’s Helping Hearts and Healing Tails Animal Rescue.

The event from 4-6 p.m. June 23 will include contests, treats and a parade around Ligonier’s Diamond, says Angel Tunstall, who opened Paws on Main in January.

Tunstall says she regularly holds events for pets and their owners.

She caters to dogs and cats with food, treats, harnesses and toys, and wants to make pets and their owners feel welcome.

“We get a lot of Golden Retrievers in here,” Tunstall says.

“I see raffles for ‘most toys in the mouth at one time’ and ‘best dressed’,” she says of the gathering.

Toys, blankets, food, cat litter and other donations will be accepted for Helping Hearts and Healing Tails.

“Our town, Ligonier, is very dog-friendly,” Tunstall says. “I think it’s important that people see we embrace dogs. My main concern is creating an experience for dogs and their owners.”

All participating dogs must be up to date on their shots and must be leashed, she says.
