A new Goodwill store will open its doors Wednesday at the Hollywood Square shopping center near Delmont.

Shoppers will be treated to live music, refreshments and a new store full of donated items following a 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6740 Hollywood Blvd., Salem.

“This store was constructed with our unique operations in mind,” said Andrew Marano, vice president of donated goods for Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania. “The production and donation areas are designed for efficiency, while the store is very wide-open and ‘green.’”

Marano said the 13,000-square-foot store is equipped with an energy-efficient rated HVAC system, along with more energy-efficient building materials.

“We’ve also got LED lighting installed both on the sales floor and the production area, which has been a conversion we’ve worked on at all our locations,” Marano said.

The store will employ 20 people, and donors will be able to use a new contact-free donation area.

It will join 34 other Goodwill retail stores in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Last year, Goodwill officials estimate the stores served more than 13,500 adults and children.
