Greensburg CROP Walk raises $3,000 toward hunger relief programs

The annual Greensburg CROP Walk raised $3,000 toward hunger relief programs Sunday, organizers said.
Twenty-one participants raised pledges for every mile they walked on the Five Star Trail from Lynch Field to Huff Avenue in South Greensburg. The distance covered was 4.5 miles.
The annual event, sponsored by the Greensburg Ministerial Association, is a fundraiser for Church World Service, an international relief agency representing 37 Christian denominations. The ministerial association voted to have 25% of the proceeds go to the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
The first CROP Walks were held in 1969 in Bismarck, N.D., and York County, Pa.
Chairwoman of the Greensburg CROP Walk was the Rev. Donna Havrisko of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Greensburg.
