Greensburg family fair will offer baby supplies, ultrasounds, dental care; volunteers needed
Volunteers are being sought to help distribute baby supplies to those in need June 5 in Greensburg.
The distribution is part of the first Generous Hearts Family Resource Fair, a free event set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Greensburg, 711 E. Pittsburgh St.
The fair also will feature: ultrasounds offered by TryLife Center of Lower Burrell; dental cleanings for children provided by Golden Onsite Dental; a United Way bookmobile; and Haven May, with her therapy dog, Poppy.
Baby supplies were donated for the event by diocese parishioners who volunteer with Walking with Moms in Need, a national effort by members of the Catholic faith to share needed resources with pregnant and parenting women.
“I hope that families leave with supplies and services that help to meet their basic needs, from clothing to health checkups to food, but also with the sense of hope that, while they may be experiencing difficulties, there is still good in our communities, there are still people wanting to help support one another,” said Melaney Hegyes, local Catholic Charities managing director.
“Our caseworkers handle over 1,000 calls requesting assistance per month,” Hegyes said. “We want to make sure people who have a need know where they can find assistance, not just from us, but from other agencies that will be joining us on this day.”
Those interested in volunteering at the event should call 724-837-1840.
