Greensburg Y invites families to 'Merry and Bright' holiday fun night
The latest in a series of Family Fun Nights at the Greensburg YMCA will include holiday-themed activities.
“Merry and Bright” is the theme of the event, from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, which will feature a visit from Santa.
Kids who attend also will have an opportunity to create their own Christmas ornaments.
“They can decorate their own star for their tree,” said Debby King, Y membership director. “The younger kids can use pipe cleaners to make candy canes for the tree.
“We’ll also have holiday music, a ring toss game and an obstacle course bounce house.”
King explained children who enter the large inflatable attraction “can climb up and over different obstacles to get to the other side.”
Snacks will be available — including cookies and milk, provided by Eat’n Park and Turner Dairy Farms.
Family Fun Night was established years ago to offer families a chance to enjoy an evening of inexpensive entertainment together. The monthly event includes crafts and activities focused around changing themes.
It’s also an opportunity for nonmembers to check out the amenities and programs at the local Y, King said.
“It’s a low-key event with everybody getting together and just enjoying a family night out,” she said.
Admission is free for Y members and $5 per person for nonmembers.
Family Fun Nights, usually held the third Friday of each month, are slated to continue through March.
The Greensburg Y is at Maple Avenue and Pittsburgh Street. For more information about Y programs, visit greensburgymca.org or call 724-834-0150.
